Build a stronger team – whether it's marketing, business development, technical, or other – that focuses on team strengths and develops into a cohesive, strong team. Too often, teams are either unbalanced (too many leaders, not enough doers), missing a critical skill (such as organization, stress tolerance, peacekeeping, communication), or replicas of the hiring manager, and it can create organizational management problems.

As recruitment is at an all-time high, and the great resignation takes hold in the A/E/C industry, it’s important to look beyond a resume to view how your team can function as a whole and individually. This interactive session will dive into using research-based strategies to uncover what it means to build a better team and provide you with an actionable plan to take back to your team.

Includes 2 Drink Tickets and Appetizers.

Key Takeaways:

  • Identify team strengths and weaknesses (using an executive function test)
  • Identifying bias in yourself (to avoid a cookie-cutter team)
  • Create a list of competencies (not skills) related to job requirements
  • Develop a process for recruiting those competencies and strengths
  • Nurture and mentor each individual contributor’s strengths

Speaker

Kimberly Robertson, CPSM
Marketing Services Manager / Associate
HDR

Kimberly Robertson, CPSM, is HDR’s Marketing Services Manager for the Federal Military Planning, Asset Management, and Geospatial Data Solutions business line. As an Associate and employee-owner, she is directly responsible for the strategic marketing direction across the business line, a more than $60 million annual revenue-generating team. She works closely with client and program managers to identify growth opportunities and align marketing strategies with these goals. Additionally, Kimberly leads the marketing and business development team’s efforts as they implement market- and client-specific campaigns, develop strategic marketing materials, and respond to significant federal contract pursuits. Her marketing expertise spans many disciplines, including account management, proposal leadership, content creation, campaign programs, and talent brand management. In her nearly 20 years of experience, she has consistently challenged herself to build team cohesion and foster belonging within the company culture, but her favorite part of the job is coaching and mentoring staff and colleagues to find their passions and carve out individually manifested paths for themselves.
