Joshua Putterman is an international development finance risk specialist and CEO of Extreme Event Risk will highlight on risks presented by extreme weather events, and discuss advanced quantitative tools to address qualitative business planning challenges affecting the AEC industry. Joshua will talk about how the Mountain West must plan for the risks presented by extreme weather events that affect the bottom line of our industry: As the frequency and intensity of extreme weather events continues to influence the bottom line, planning and provisioning for the risks posed by these events becomes absolutely necessary. Delays, rework, and warranty issues from events like the catastrophic flooding in 2013 and the hail storms in 2017 impact the built environment locally. Regionally, powerful storms like Hurricane Harvey can shock labor and material markets in unexpected ways for months. Looking to past weather trends when creating schedules, building designs, or project contingencies, is no longer prudent in this new and rapidly changing environment. Therefore, how do we adjust?
