What does Fort Collins' New Building Energy Scoring Initiative mean for Northern Colorado?

Fort Collins Utilities has proposed a building energy scoring requirement to its City Council, similar to 26 Cities across the US including Denver and Boulder. Energy benchmarking, scoring and transparency provides a beneficial tools in helping owners, property managers, and tenants to establish a baseline for tracking and identifying opportunities to reduce energy-related costs, and allow the market an opportunity to value energy efficiency by differentiating high performing buildings.

Kirk Longstein joins us from the City of Fort Collins' energy efficiency team. As a Project Manager, he leads the continued program and policy development for a Building Energy Scoring initiative. Kirk's professional interest include promoting energy efficiency investments by leveraging the City's rebates and the County finance tool, C-PACE; additionally, Kirk is interested in developing marketing collateral for Real Estate professionals to differentiate buildings with low utility costs and better NOI.
