It’s been a banner year for development projects in Colorado Springs!

The SMPS SoCo Committee is hosting a luncheon featuring presentations on local land acquisitions, urban renewal, and infill projects. This luncheon for architects, contractors, engineers, interior designers, marketers, and business developers, will focus on how developers select design and construction teams, lessons learned, current challenges, and how their projects connect to the larger vision of where Colorado Springs is heading.

Craig Anderson
Principal/Broker — NAI Highland

Craig specializes in the purchase and sale of investment properties and land throughout the Pikes Peak region. He joined NAI Highland in 2007 after ten years heading the Colorado Springs branch of Trammell Crow Company. Craig brings 30 years of regional commercial real estate experience to the group. Since 1982, he has participated in over $600 million in commercial real estate sales. Previous sales include the 24,000-acre Banning Lewis Ranch development, the 1,340-acre Northgate development, the 1,200-acre Springs Ranch Development, and dozens of other user, investor, and developer transactions.




Danny Mientka

Darsey Nicklasson
Principal — DHN Planning and Development

Darsey grew up in small towns in Montana and Colorado, but fell in love with the urban lifestyle while living in Washington D.C. Upon receiving her master’s degree in Urban Planning and Historic Preservation from the University of Maryland, she worked as a community planner on significant urban in-fill projects in the Washington D.C. area. Later, in Colorado Springs, she worked for National Home Builders doing entitlements, land development and working with HOAs. In 2013, Darsey partnered with fellow Colorado Springs resident, Kathy Loo, to develop Blue Dot Place, a 33-unit apartment building. Blue Dot Place was the first for rent, multi-family product built in downtown Colorado Springs since the 1960s. Darsey’s favorite part of her job is community building and encouraging others to take part in creating a great place to live!




John Suthers
Mayor — City of Colorado Springs

John Suthers was elected the 41st mayor of Colorado Springs by an overwhelming majority on May 19, 2015. Suthers brings decades of experience in government and management to the City of Colorado Springs. Before being elected Mayor, Suthers served as Attorney General of Colorado from 2005 to 2015. Under Suthers’ leadership, the Colorado Attorney General’s office earned a national reputation for excellence. In 2012, he was awarded the Kelly-Wyman Award, the highest honor given by the National Association of Attorneys General. He graduated magna cum laude from the University of Notre Dame, and in the top quarter of his law school class at the University of Colorado. A lifelong resident of Colorado Springs, Suthers attended grade school here and graduated from St. Mary’s High School.
