Restaurant Review: The Best Thai Food in Denver - U.S. Thai
The best Thai food in Denver. Period. If you’ve ever lived in Denver, you already know or you should. I’ve brought it up in random conversations across the country, and every time, it’s the same reaction: a knowing nod and a look of longing. Even in Joshua Tree, chatting with a vintage store owner who used to live in Denver, I mentioned “the best Thai food in Denver is...” and before I could finish, he goes, “U.S. Thai.” It’s that legendary.
The Spot
It’s the definition of a hole-in-the-wall. Seriously, the “sign” is just a piece of printer paper with “U.S. Thai” typed on it. The place is tiny, always slammed, and the line usually spills out the door. There are a few tables inside, but most people grab it to-go. Smart move, because the aroma that hits you when you walk in is actual torture when you’re starving.
The Food
This is what you came for. The Panang Curry with Chicken is the star. Hands down the best I’ve ever had. Creamy, perfectly spiced, and the chicken is ridiculously tender. I’ve tried Panang Curry everywhere, and nothing compares. The Crab Wontons are genius—shaped like little tortellinis so you get filling in every bite. Honestly, everything on the menu is solid. Tom Kha, Pad Thai, Massaman Curry—you really can’t go wrong.
Spice Level Warning
U.S. Thai does not play around with spice. I love spicy food, and even I stick to “Mild +.” If you’re a not as into spice, start with Mild and work your way up. Don’t say I didn’t warn you.
The Verdict
Tiny spot, no real sign, always busy, and the best Thai food in Denver. It’s legendary for a reason. If you haven’t tried it, get over to Edgewater ASAP.
