The Elementary School, opening in August 2018, will house 600 preschool through fifth grade students with learning commons, gymnasium, cafeteria, art, music and flex spaces for 21st Century learning. The Center for Modern Learning will provide a new home for the online high school, the Calvert Online K-8 School and the home school Academy. It will also include spaces for cyber security and coding classes, as well as a makerspace. Opening in the Fall of 2018, the Challenger Learning Center is another component of the Center for Modern Learning currently being constructed.

Working with a complex scope and accelerated schedule, Hord Coplan Macht adapted a prototype elementary school, built elsewhere in Colorado, to the District 20 site. Through a series of bid packages, Nunn Construction broke ground and began earthwork just three months after project award.

Join SMPS Colorado and AIA Colorado along with Hord Coplan Macht, Nunn Construction and Academy District 20 as we take a tour of the construction site to learn about the unique features of this fast-track, design-build project! We’ll head to the Till Kitchen afterwards for a Happy Hour which includes appetizers and one drink ticket per registrant. Continuing education credit (1 AIA LU) will be offered to registered AIA members who attend the Hard Hat Tour. 

***Closed toed shoes, pants, sleeves, a hard hat and vest will be required to tour the project site. If you do not have your own Personal Protective Equipment we will have extra on site. However, if you do not wear appropriate clothing you will not be allowed on the construction site.
