Attendees of this workshop will leave with a foundational understanding of the various job responsibilities of a business developer and tools to succeed in the marketplace. The ½ day bootcamp will be interactive and a fun way to work with your peers towards some best practices. Whether you are transitioning to a business development role with your organization or a doer-seller in your firm, the Business Development Bootcamp is not to be missed! (Some pre-work may be required.)

Alejandra "Ale" Spray, Marketing Director
AMI Mechanical

Alejandra “Ale” Spray is the Marketing Director for AMI Mechanical, a Denver based commercial mechanical contractor. She has more than 20 years of experience in the construction industry and as marketing director she is responsible for overseeing the company’s marketing strategies, objectives and goals, manages qualification, proposal and presentations to secure new clients and projects. Ale is also responsible for AMI Mechanical’s community engagement, wellness program and outreach efforts while developing client relationships.

Ale earned a bachelor’s degree in civil engineering from the Western Institute of Technology and Higher Education in Guadalajara, Mexico. She is a graduate of the University of Denver's Latino Leadership Institute Fellowship Program and is the board president of the HCC Colorado’s Diversity Leader (formerly known as Hispanic Contractors of Colorado). She also serves on the State of Colorado’s Minority Business Advisory Council and has been a member of the Bellco board of directors since May 2017. 

 

Adrienne Tuck, Business Development Manager
GH Phipps

What she loves most about her new job as the Southern Colorado Business Development Manager for GH Phipps is job is creating brand strategies for target markets, and developing mutually-beneficial relationships built on trust and integrity. Adrienne’s 10 years of experience as a marketer and business developer working on all sides of the A/E/C industry include:  managing the proposal and interview process for an architectural firm through the recession, spearheading the rebranding of a well-established engineering company, and increasing business unit revenue by more than 600 percent. She is the SMPS SoCo Committee Chairwoman for the Society of Marketing Professional Services and was named a Rising Star by the Colorado Springs Business Journal. Adrienne serves her community on the Board of Directors for Atlas Preparatory School, is a Court Appointed Special Advocate for children in the foster care system, and is on the Mayor’s Young Leader Task Force.

 

Nadine Hensler, Business Development Leader
DLR Group

Nadine Hensler leads K12 Business Development for DLR Group, an integrated design firm providing architecture, engineering, planning, interior design, and building optimization. As a Business Development Leader, she focuses on the K-12 market in Colorado and Wyoming to find and develop new business opportunities while continuously strengthening ties with existing clients. She is currently a member of the Academy School District 20 Education Foundation, the Colorado School Foundation Association, and is active in A4LE, CSPMA, SMPS and many other industry groups. Nadine holds an MBA from Colorado Technical University and was previously recognized as a 40-under-40 Rising Star by the Colorado Springs Business Journal. 

 

Tim Barr, Director of Business Development
McCarthy Builders

Tim Barr is the Director Business Development for McCarthy Building Companies in Denver, Colorado. As a Business Development professional with over 20 years of experience in A/E/C, Tim focuses on building relationships that last, developing brand awareness, and driving the strategy that leads to results. A Dean's List graduate of the University of Colorado at Boulder's LEEDS School of Business, Tim has been responsible for the development of client relationships, internal marketing process, and the strategic positioning of several architectural and construction firms through his career. Tim was the 2016 SMPS Colorado “Business Developer of the Year” award winner, was honored by San Diego Metropolitan Magazine in the annual “40 Under 40” honor roll in 2007, and has spoken at many professional events and conferences.

 

Nicole Laughlin, Rocky Mountain Area Marketing Manager
Brown and Caldell

Nicole Laughlin brings 12 years of strategic marketing experience with A/E/C firms – mainly in the environmental and civil engineering industry. She currently serves as the Rocky Mountain Area Marketing Manager for Brown and Caldwell where she helps teams assess business development priorities, develop client and pursuit strategies, and execute top company pursuits throughout the western United States and Pacific region. She also manages and mentors a high-performing team of entry- through senior-level marketers. Nicole is considered a regional resource in training employees on the company’s official business development philosophies and procedures and is frequently called upon to coach teams during high-stakes proposals and interviews. Finally, she also supports local and national company leadership programs that emphasize improving organizational health and furthering workplace diversity.

 

Krista Trofka, Founder
Trofka Communication Arts

Krista Trofka is on a mission to help others take on courageous acts to overcome their self-limiting beliefs.

In 2017, she founded and launched Trofka Communication Arts, which offers public speaking and presentation training that allows people to unlock their potential to capture attention, close more deals and become a recognized leader.

As an introvert and self-proclaimed geek, her workshops offer a new insight on networking, sales and public speaking. Krista is a change-agent and founder of Trofka Communication Arts. Before launching her own business, she was a world-traveler, high school teacher, Fortune 500 real estate advisor, and urban planning professor.
