The Colorado chapter of the Society for Marketing Professional Services (SMPS) hosted their annual Marketing Excellence Awards on May 13, 2010. The event recognized the industry’s top performing marketing professionals for both their work and individual accomplishments.
The following individuals were recognized for their outstanding performance:
Leonardo Award:
Debbie Hindman, Associates III Interior Design
The Leonardo is the most prestigious award given by SMPS Colorado and represents achievement at the highest levels in A/E/C Industry marketing and Business Development. Winner Debbie Hindman has served as Marketing Manager for Associates III Interior Design for 29 years. She has branded her firm as the leader in creating sustainable, healthy and life-enhancing residential interiors – today and before sustainability became mainstream. She was instrumental as a founding member of the Colorado USGBC chapter in 2002. Debbie has authored several publications, including Sustainable Residential Interiors, an ASID national award-winning book used by design professionals and as a university level textbook. She co-authored Turning Green: How to Become a Green Design Firm and contributed to Sustainable Design Resource Guide for Colorado & the Western Mountain Region. She mentors the next generation of interior design professionals as an adjunct faculty member teaching Green Design Education at Rocky Mountain College of Art + Design.
SMPS Colorado Member of the Year:
Brianne Powell, Farnsworth Group, Inc.
Member of the Year recognizes extraordinary effort and performance on the part of a member. Winner Brianne Powell redesigned and re-launched the SMPS website with vastly improved performance. She saved the chapter thousands of dollars in cost, dedicated hundreds of volunteer hours, created a streamlined process including training for future users, and continues to be the day-to-day lead on all things related to the SMPS Colorado website.
Marketer of the Year:
Stephanie Dammen, Shaffer Baucom
Marketer of the Year recognizes outstanding performance in professional services marketing. Winner Stephanie Dammen has achieved success in all marketing domains and has earned a place of respect among her peers as a strong all-around marketer. Stephanie’s success includes implementation of a marketing plan involving all members of the firm; a company-wide client relationship management program; sole-responsibility for the preparation of more than 60 project proposals during the past year resulting in multiple new clients; and a comprehensive communication campaign.
Business Developer of the Year:
Erica Stankelis, Monroe & Newell Engineers
This award recognizes outstanding and recognizable success in the area of A/E/C business development. Erica is recognized for fostering and building client relationships that have added considerable value for her firm during trying economic times. This has allowed firm principals to increase their own billable hours, giving true economic benefit to the firm. Erica secured 15 percent of the firm’s annual income from new clients in the past year. She has worked to position her firm as one of the top structural engineers in Colorado and has a network that runs throughout the state.

for their advertising submission, “Lost in Space,” a print advertising campaign directed toward their target market of commercial real estate professionals for the 2010 calendar year using unique imagery and tongue-in-cheek humor to highlight the importance of their design services.

for their advertising campaign themed “Energy Efficiency” focusing on renovation/rehabilitation of existing buildings to be more energy efficient and sustainable.
Annual Report:
CH2M Hill
for their Annual Report for the city of Milton, Georgia, a new city incorporated in December 2006 - CH2M Hill provided all municipal services for the first three years except public safety.

for their non-financial 2009 Annual Review for internal and external clients – a synopsis of their accomplishments during the firm’s second year as a global practice.
